Command Palette

The Command Palette is a powerful keyboard-first interface that provides quick access to common actions and navigation throughout Toggly.

Overview

The Command Palette (⌘K on macOS, Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux) enables you to:

  • Navigate quickly between different sections
  • Execute feature flag operations without clicking
  • Access admin functions
  • Copy SDK integration snippets
  • Search for commands by keyword

Opening the Command Palette

Press the keyboard shortcut to open the command palette:

The command palette will appear as an overlay in the center of your screen.

Recent and Frequent Commands

When you open the command palette without typing, it displays:

  1. Recent commands you've executed
  2. Frequently used commands based on execution count
  3. Commands you have permission to execute

This makes it faster to access commands you use regularly.

Permissions

The command palette respects your workspace and application permissions:

  • Commands you don't have permission for are hidden
  • Workspace-level permissions (ManageUsers, Billing, etc.) control admin commands
  • Application-level permissions (toggle, manage) control feature operations

Context Awareness

Some commands require context (current application, environment, or feature):

  • Navigation commands typically don't require context
  • Feature commands require application and environment context
  • Targeting commands require application and feature context

If the required context isn't available, the command will be filtered out.

Dangerous Actions

Commands that can have significant impact require confirmation:

  • Kill Switch (disables feature in ALL environments)
  • Shows a confirmation dialog before executing
  • Marked with a warning icon (⚠️) in the command list

  • Try clicking in the Toggly window first, then press the shortcut

Commands are missing

  • Verify you have the necessary permissions
  • Some commands require specific context (app/environment)
  • Contact your workspace owner if you need additional permissions

Command execution fails

  • Check your network connection
  • Verify you still have permission to perform the action
  • Some actions require specific application or environment to be selected

Enabling the Command Palette

The Command Palette feature is controlled by the CommandPalette feature flag in your Toggly instance. If you don't see the command palette:

  1. Contact your system administrator or workspace owner
  2. Ensure the CommandPalette feature flag is enabled in your environment
  3. Refresh your browser after the feature flag is enabled

For self-hosted instances, you can enable this feature flag through your Toggly feature management configuration.
